Men are more likely to die prematurely than women and more likely to behave in ways that put their health at risk. Despite these increased risks, men are much less likely to see their doctor than women.
We’re trying to change that through accessible consultations.
Regular health checks are important – even for men!
It’s not always easy for men to seek help. Many of us tend to be self-reliant people who would rather cope alone than ask for support.
When one big clinic in America surveyed patients, most men were very reluctant to seek medical care. When they did go to the doctor, 20% of men admitted they weren’t always honest about their health.
But avoiding or delaying healthcare can worsen your health.
According to Australian Men’s Health Week,
Men die 6 years younger than women | 4 in 5 heart disease deaths under 65 are in men | 1 in 4 men die of cancer | 3 in 4 suicides are in men | 93% of workplace deaths are men |
